Magpie 19-happiness eluded

The dagger was thrown and sliced my heart.
The knife came unexpectedly, and I was unprepared again,
completely thrown off guard.
Why do these things continue to happen;
what do I do that makes the pattern repeat?
Have I annoyed Karma or what?

Happiness is not to remain, I guess
It doesn't want to stay in one place-
its visits are too quick and then out the door it goes.
I guess I'll just wait around for its next visit.
Hopefully, I'll be prepared and bolt the door.
If I get lucky enough for another visit, I can't let it escape again.

**this is a magpie tale.  Check out "Challenges I love" to try it out!

  1. Such a shame we must temper ourselves again the blade of relationships. We are supposed to be wanted, needed and loved not cut and used like so much meat. I really like this post, Caty.

  4. wow, caty, your magpie had a lot to say! i couldn't help but think that so much of you life is wonderful, brimming with work that is fulfilling, friends that are true. but it's the guy thing that so easily can destroy the best life. don't get me wrong, i am not against men, just the ones who know how to wield that knife and don't think twice about what it does to a tender heart...

  6. ""Well," said Pooh, "what I like best," and then he had to stop and think. Because although Eating Honey was a very good thing to do, there was a moment just before you began to eat it which was better than when you were, but he didn't know what it was called." ~A.A. Milne

    happiness doesn't elude us, we are the ones eluding it but only looking at the end result - happiness is about joy and embracing each step of our life.
    keep writing, you do it very well.
