Restlessness takes hold
it's one am in the morning
a cyclone of thoughts
storm my mind in warning
as the tornado outside
my window is forming.
the rain beats down on my
windowsill and the wind
is loudly howling as I
lay in my bed, chaotic thoughts
seeping through closed eyes.
Visions of the vintage past
mixed with what the future
could bring, the question remains-will I at last
be able to release what I endlessly grasp
and allow for the next unknown forecast?

Boy howdy. Have you been reading my mind. I have written on this topic several times. My mind seems more fertile from 2 to 4. I hate that. Great One Shot.
ReplyDelete"will I at last be able to release what I endlessly grasp" Great line and overall poem. Sleeplessness is horrible; hope you're able to rest :)
ReplyDeleteIt's the unresolved in us that keeps us awake.
ReplyDeleteNice One Shot, Caty!
ugh...so much to keep me awake...my mind seems to come alive when it hits the pillow...
ReplyDeleteHit the Bong a few times...hehehe
ReplyDeleteWOW, what a picture!!!
ReplyDeleteSometimes the thoughts just don't want to slow down, and sometimes it's so scary to let go. You've captured both so well, Caty.

I know the feeling all too well....your words are true to it all the way....love the photo Caty! :-)
ReplyDeleteI sorry, but I rarely struggle with sleeplessness. It's during the day when all these thoughts roll around as I work...and then they are gone when I find a keyboard. Oh the labor pains. Thanks for sharing your struggle...sweet dreams(I pray).
